REMEMBERING GASHERBRUM I is a 47-minute film commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of
Gasherbrum I. At 8068 meters (26,470 feet) Gasherbrum I (a.k.a. “Hidden Peak”) is the eleventh highest peak and is one
of only fourteen 8000-meter mountains. By 1964 all fourteen of these peaks had been climbed, with Gasherbrum I being
the only “achttausender” whose first ascent was accomplished by an American team.
